Balls deep in Gator country...
The show last nigt was amazing, as usual...Gainesville is my personal favorite town to play in. The people here are so awesome. They dont care who you are, what you do, where you live, what day of the week it is, whatever....they just want to rock and drink lots of beer. We played with Blacksnake (www.myspace.com/blacksnakeband) and High Voltage (The AC/DC tribute band from Gainesville). It was awesome! The place was packed. As soon as i finish writing this im going to kick sadler and jason in the balls to wake them up so we can head to Tampa, F.L. I Guess i could back track a little... Athens and Birmingham were pretty awesome, as you guys could see from the video blogs, we then headed to Clemson, S.C.. None of really knew what to expect in Clemson. We hadnt played there before and werent even sure if anyone knew who we were but the place ended up being completely packed! After the show some of our friends who are in a band called BY'R Lady threw a killer party. 30 mins into it people were being carried outsite, there must have been 50 or 60 people in this small 2 bedroom apt in the woods. When we left i saw people passed out on the porch, in the bushes, on the ground, you name it....Clemson doesnt mess around. We had the next day off so we headed back to Charleston...basically just to do some laundry. We did a radio interview and played a few songs live on 98X the next night then headed to Jacksonville, F.L. where we had another radio interview to do at 2P.M....needless to say, we didnt get much sleep. Later that night we played at Eclipse in Jax. It was a lot of fun as usual. Jack Daniels was flowing like a waterfall...the owner of that club is a machine. well, that brings us to Gainesville...and here we are. Jason and Sadler are about 3 minutes away from the most painful wake up they have ever had... thanks for letting us stay here last night Jess!!!! xoxo jonathan. posted by- leslie_sadler I didnt have to use my A.K., its been a good day...
After the show we got invited to some private party for a rapper named Young Jeezy. Sadler and I had no idea who the hell he was but Jason on the other hand...well, he knew exactly who Young Jeezy was. Everything was going well until the party came to an end and a fight broke out. Now, I work in a bar and see lots of little bar brawls. No big deal, right? Wrong. This wasn't your usual bar fight. The red flag went up when we saw the Atlanta City Police Officer that was there to do security run and hide. Everyone gets shuffled out the door and we just stand there, not really knowing what to do. I look over and the bartenders are ducking on the floor and tell us to get down. As Im wondering why they are making such a big deal out of this little fight, that ended as fast as it started, we hear gun shots. Our ass cheeks hit the floor like a ton of bricks. We just looked at each other and thought "there is no way in hell this is happening". We heard a ton of shots and then some people busting back inside the club running to the back. Everyone starts yelling " GO OUT BACK! GO OUT BACK!" So we don't hesitate and run out the back door. We find this little stairway to crouch and hide in and 3 seconds after we get out back, the gun fight spreads to the back of the building-right where we are hiding. Luckily the cops arrive, after what seems like an eternity. The gunfire dies out and we move to the parking lot. Everyone is talking about what just happened as we are walking to the van and I notice a bullet hole right behind our driver side door. We open up the van to find that the bullet went through the side of the van, through a pillow, through a merchandise tub and a couple of shirts where it finally stopped. I found the bullet in the bottom of the tub and although I wanted to keep it, I was encouraged to give it to the police. We eventually make it to our friend Johnny's house at about 5 a.m. to get some sleep. We had the next day off so we spent it talking about the previous nights events over burritos the size of a grown mans leg at this place called Willie's then headed for Florida...Wait, somewhere in there I managed to adopt a beagle puppy that I named Angie. She spent the rest of the tour with us. She is pretty much awesome as hell. We played at The Back Booth in Orlando the next night. It was our friends in Gasworks C.D. release party. It was rockin! We met some pretty awesome people that night and rocked Orlando like they have never been rocked before. The next night we played in Gainesville, F.L. Gainesville is one of our favorite cities to play in. We have so many great friends there and everyone is so laid back and friendly. We played at The Atlantic for a sort of Fest reunion show. It was way cool. We expected no less since Gainesville always shows us a good time. All in all the trip was fun and probably more memorable than any tour I have ever been on. Its not every tour you get caught in the middle of a gun fight, get a bullet hole in your van and manage to adopt a puppy. Im going to try and post up a few pictures from the trip for you guys. Don't forget the keep checking the shows page. Shows are constantly being added and hopefully we will have all of the new merch up on the site soon, including the Bee St. Sessions. -jonathan. if you want to see a couple of pics of the bullet hole and sadler at his finest, go check the blog on our myspace page. www.myspace.com/leslierock posted by- jonathancarman I AINT JOKIN' WOMAN, I'VE GOT TO RAMBLE...
We played with Limbeck (www.Limbeck.net) and Will Hoge (www.willhoge.com) on Thursday (3.23) at Headliners in Columbia, S.C. and the show was amazing! Well, Limbeck and Leslie fell in love within the first hour. We ended up going to 5 Points Diner after the show, which we ALL highly recommend if you are ever in Columbia. Jason and Limbecks bass player, Justin, made their way to the bar next door where they were taking shots alone, heckling the door guy, and ranting and raving about how bass players were always the burley dudes in the band, etc. I walk over to see what was going on and literally it was just the two of them. No one else was in there drinking, the door guy was outside and I didnt even see a bartender! I seriously dont know who was even making their drinks and I dont think they remember either. The next day I drove to Atlanta, G.A. for my best friends wedding. The bachelor party was pretty crazy. We all woke up trying to figure out who the Jager colored puke belonged to that was all over the kitchen floor, no one ever confessed. If you have any information leading to the discovery and confession of the guilty party please call 555-4444. The wedding was awesome. Probably one of the coolest I have ever been too. After the wedding was over and I ate cake until I was sick I jumped back in my truck and hauled tail back to Charleston to make it back for the Limbeck and Will Hoge show at The Music Farm that night. I got there just as Limbeck finished which was a total bummer. After the show we all went back to my house to hang out. The next morning the sun came blazing through house letting everyone know that it was time to get up and head to brunch at A.C.s for $1 mimosas and omelets as big as your head. We ended up hanging there for about 6 hours. A.C.s has been known to suck you in and make hours feel like minutes. Later that night we had a bunch of people over and spun records till the break of dawn. Monday was spent hanging out downtown and then to the rehearsal space where Leslie and Limbeck merged together for a short reggae jam in between practices. I'm pretty sure we will be touring with Damien Marley soon. The rest of the night was spent with a few people coming over to hang. Someone mentioned "The Last Waltz", the final performance by The Band (for those of you that arent familiar with it...), and the next thing you know its 3 A.M. and we are all huddled in the living room watching the damn thing until everyone passed out. Tuesday we woke up and went out for some tasty Thai before the guys had to make their way to Jacksonville, F.L. We said our goodbyes and off they went into the sunset. We played that night in Charlotte, N.C. at the Evening Muse to finish up our string of Tuesday night shows that we were doing the whole month of March. It was awesome! Thanks to everyone who came out, including The Avett Brothers (www.theavettbrothers.com) who came out the Tuesday before and this past one and brought a bunch of people with them. It was great meeting and chatting with those guys. Great band too, check them out! So now we are gearing up for the April 8th show at The Music Farm (www.musicfarm.com) in Charleston, S.C. It will be so good to be playing in our hometown again. We have sooooo many things in store for that show! A bunch of new songs, tons of new merchandise including: 4 new shirt designs, 2 new stickers, a bunch of new buttons, and we will also have the new demos that we did with Jake Sinclair of The Films (www.hearthefilms.com) called "Bee St. Sessions". We just couldn't wait any longer to let everyone hear this stuff! Red Handed (www.myspace.com/redhandedrocks) (formerly known as AGYNST) and The Gates of Berlin, from Atlanta, G.A. (www.thegatesofberlin.com), will be giving everyone a good ass kicking before we hit the stage so DON'T BE LATE!!!! We are so pumped about this show! Keep and eye on the shows section because new tour dates are flowing in all the time. We should also have the new merchandise available on our online store within the next week or two so keep checking back! Im pretty sure ive rambled enough and if you made it this far...well, my hat is off to you! You have great deal of patience, young grasshoppa... -Jonathan. posted by- jonathancarman HOLY S!$%T WHAT A ROCK SHOW!
Bye, Sadler Vaden/LESLIE posted by- leslie_sadler CAN YOU HEAR MY FUZZ!?
Well, that' s my journal this time, sorry it couldn't have been about politics, shitty books i've read, or even the state of the music industry (which would have just been cliche and very "could ya get on with it,"so to speak.) Consider yourself lucky but not cleansed. I drove him back to Charlotte to catch his flight to N.Y. this past friday morning. He had to be there at 8 A.M. so we thought it would be a good idea to just stay up until we had to hit the road at 4 A.M. Well, i ended up staying for the better part of 48 straight hours with a few little power naps...not that they did any good. As soon as i got back from Charlotte we hopped in the truck and headed to the mountains of V.A. We needed a break and some rest after all of recording and rehearsals of the 2 weeks that Jake was here. It was bro-down time and we did just that. No cell phones, no computers, nothing but relaxation, fresh air, and snow for 3 straight days...we had a great time, ate like kings and did a little exploring on the top of the mountain...We had to keep reminding Jason not to eat the yellow snow... In other news...Ive decided to grow a mustache to connect my chops. im pretty sure its going to be nothing less than badass. We posted some of the new songs on our myspace site. Hopefully everyone will take a second and check them out. We listened to a lot of ZZ Top while we were in the mountains and im convinced that the drummer doubled some of his drum fills when they recorded. If anyone knows if there is any truth to this, please let me know. Either way, he is pretty much the man. Listen to more ZZ Top. They are amazing. And give us The Oregon Trail. We are still on the quest to find it. Make it happen. Thats all i have for now... -Jonathan. posted by- jonathancarman PRESS RECORD!!!
The place is littered with green and brown bottles, overflowing ashtrays, pizza boxes and take out menus...sleep and showers seem to be something that has been put in the back of everyone's mind. I think we are all too jazzed about the new songs to worry about luxuries like that... If anyone knows where we can get a copy of "The Oregon Trail" for Macs, we would all LOVE to know. You know, the game we all played in elementry school. I dont know why its so hard to find, it was on every computer i ever touched in the first half of the most impressionable years of my life... We all went out for Jason's birthday this past Saturday and I'm not so sure he knew his own name by the end of the night...but that is how it is supposed be on your 21st. Apparently he is a "grown ass man" now... at least thats what he was telling EVERYONE! Thats about it for now. We are breaking for dinner in a few... posted by- a. |
